Your
ways and your deeds have brought this upon you. This is your doom, and it is
bitter; it has reached your very heart.”
My
anguish, my anguish! I writhe in pain! Oh the walls of my heart! My heart is
beating wildly; I cannot keep silent, for I hear the sound of the trumpet, the
alarm of war.
“For my people are foolish; they know me not; they are stupid children; they
have no understanding. They are ‘wise’—in doing evil!
But how to do good they know not.”
Therefore thus says the Lord: Behold, I will lay before this people stumbling
blocks against which they shall stumble; fathers and sons together, neighbour
and friend shall perish.’”
Thus says the Lord: “Behold, a people is
coming from the north country, a great nation is stirring from the farthest
parts of the earth.
The prophet Jeremiah was called to warn
and in these 3 chapters the Father details the impending doom. He also reminds
Judah and Israel of their turning away and defiling the temple. It is a bit
frightening and makes you sad. They ignored the Father’s commandments and
sought to replace Him with what could never care, provide or satisfy them. All
scripture is good and instructs us. We continue to see the heart of the Father,
for even though he warns them of doom He reminds of His promise to their Father
and tells them of the new covenant. A covenant we are part of as it includes
other nations.
