“Are You the One who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”
Jesus replied to them, “Go and report to John what you hear and see: the blind see, the lame walk, those with skin diseases are healed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor are told the good news. And if anyone is not offended because of Me, he is blessed.”
For John did not come eating or drinking, and they say, ‘He has a
demon!’ The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look, a glutton
and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is
vindicated by her deeds.”
Our Lord rebukes an indifferent people. People
never pleased nor satisfied always asking for more. Their expectations and
demands are ever changing and he rebukes them for this is a lack of faith. Even
when miracles were performed in front of them they failed to believe. What was
promised in scripture is fulfilled but still no faith.
We followers of our Lord, His gospel carriers,
will find ourselves being questioned to prove our hope and belief.
Opinions from the world on what we should dress
like, talk like, places we should be, what we should be eating or not, who we
should associate with, etcetera-etcetera should not influence us as we go about
sharing our Lord’s good news.
When we read this chapter our Lord is angry, and
annoyed for how could the people not see but He praises the Father for He knows
what He came to do He has done.
Ours is to carry and share the gospel, walk with
people and love them and we would also have fulfilled what our Father’s will.
We will find ourselves tired and annoyed too
sometimes but we must learn from our Lord find rest in many believe or don’t understand the Father’s will is done and
We must seek to obey and share the gospel as our
Lord has instructed and we will find the rest promised.
Peace in the knowledge that we have obeyed our
Father and done according to His will.
“I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have
hidden these things from the wise and learned and revealed them to infants.
Yes, Father, because this was Your good pleasure. All things have been
entrusted to Me by My Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no
one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son desires to
reveal Him.
“Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. All of you, take up My yoke and learn from Me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for yourselves. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
