Three
times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. But he said
to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in
weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that
the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am
content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For
when I am weak, then I am strong.
Finally,
brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one
another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you. Greet
one another with a holy kiss. All the saints greet you.
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of
the Holy Spirit be with you all.
Paul goes into great detail in
this letter defending the ministry he was called to. He unashamedly discloses
his weaknesses and suffering.
This is great encouragement
for us too. We do not need to be perfect to serve God but wholeheartedly
surrendered to Christ for only then can we boast in Him alone.
This applies to all our needs
and weaknesses our Father is sufficient to meet our needs where we are at.
We should never hide our need
for His grace and mercy in our lives. Our Lord died to reconcile us to the
Father so that we would never walk alone.
“My
grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
