1 Peter 4 : 1 - 6
Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.
This journey is about pursuit of our Lord and to learn to imitate Him. We look more into who the Word says we are and how to live. If we focus on who we were (verses 3-5) then we become too critical and feel superior to those who have not yet given their lives to follow our Lord.
In verse 6 Peter that our conduct will be judged by the world standards but we are to live according to the will of our Father by His Spirit.
1 Peter 4 : 7 - 11
Live prayerfully and lovingly.
Depend on our Father.
Whatever gifting or talent you have exercise to the Fathers glory.
Always remember glorifying our Lord always glorifies our Father.
1 Peter 4 : 12 - 19
We are reminded to rejoice in suffering and trials. This makes us partakers with our Lord in His suffering on our behalf.
In chapter 3 we talked about living and reacting differently.
Rejoicing in suffering is of those actions, it makes no sense but as we get to know the Word we learn it glorifies our Father. Indeed what is foolish to man is wisdom to the Father.
