In the beginning was the Word, and the
Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All
things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was
made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in
the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
For you are my lamp, O Lord, and my God
lightens my darkness.
For by you I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall.
This God—his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; he is a shield
for all those who take refuge in him.
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light
to my path.
By guarding it according to
your word.
With my whole heart I seek
you; let me not wander from your commandments!
I have stored up your word in my heart, that
I might not sin against you.
Blessed are you, O LORD; teach me your statutes!
With my lips I declare all the rules of your mouth.
In the way of your testimonies I delight as much as in all riches.
I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways.
I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget your word.
